Why can an enlarged prostate cause incontinence?
The urethra runs through the prostate. Concurrently with the prostate growing, it will put pressure on the urethra. This will delay the flow of urine and the urine beam will become weaker. In some cases, the urine passage, through the prostate, can become so irritated that the bladder is not completely emptied.
Symptoms like frequent urinations and tendency to cystitis will occur. In rare cases the prostate can block the urination. In these cases it will be necessary to insert a catheter in order to drain the bladder.
